Omotenashi (おもてなし) is a Japanese concept of hospitality that emphasises wholehearted service, attention to detail, and anticipating guests' needs before they even ask.
It’s deeply rooted in Japanese culture, from traditional tea ceremonies to modern customer service in hotels, restaurants, and businesses. It embodies respect, sincerity, and the idea of welcoming guests as if they were family.
When we created our brand, Omotenashi Nozawa, we wanted to bring this deeply ingrained cultural value to life through our three lodges in Nozawa Onsen. The name "Omotenashi" reflects our commitment to offering more than just a place to stay—it’s about creating an experience where guests feel valued, cared for, and truly at home.
Omotenashi Nozawa is not just a name, it’s a promise of exceptional service and personalised experiences. Through our three properties — Yukiguma Lodge, Kumanote Lodge, and Fujisawaso Lodge—guests can enjoy the warmth and hospitality of Nozawa Onsen, discovering the beauty of the village while every detail is taken care of.
We discovered Nozawa Onsen in 1998, shortly after the winter Olympics were held in Nagano. The village quickly captured our hearts with its stunning natural beauty, reliable snowfall, renowned terrain, and the strong sense of community that defines it.
After 15 years of visiting, in 2015, we made the decision to make Nozawa Onsen our permanent home. We relocated and began a new chapter, purchasing and renovating a traditional Japanese inn. By 2016, our first lodge, Kumanote Lodge, was open for business. Since then, we have expanded and now offer two more properties: Yukiguma Lodge and Fujisawaso Lodge, each with its own unique charm.
Our connection to Nozawa Onsen runs deep, and we’re committed to providing guests with a welcoming and enriching experience. Whether you're here to hit the slopes, explore the village's vibrant culture, or unwind in the beautiful surroundings, we are always happy to share our insider knowledge, help you plan your activities, and ensure your stay is unforgettable.
